Annyeong, yeoreobun! It's Yul from KVIBE IDOLS. Today we're going to Chuncheon, a lake city east of Seoul. Its most famous food is dakgalbi, spicy stir fried chicken.
In Chuncheon there's a whole dakgalbi street. People cook it on a huge round iron pan in the middle of the table.
Let's cook. Cut half a kilo of boneless chicken thighs into bite size pieces.
Make the sauce. Mix two spoons of gochujang, two spoons of chili flakes, two spoons of soy sauce, one spoon of sugar, a lot of minced garlic, a little ginger and a little curry powder. Yes, curry! That's a secret of many dakgalbi shops. Mix it with the chicken and rest it for thirty minutes.
Heat a big pan with a little oil. Add the chicken, then chopped cabbage, sweet potato slices, onion, green onion, and a few rice cakes. Stir everything for about ten minutes, until the chicken is cooked and the cabbage is soft.
Wrap a piece in a lettuce leaf with a slice of garlic. One bite. Perfect.
Yul's tip! When you're almost done, add rice, chopped kimchi, seaweed flakes and sesame oil. Fry it flat until the bottom gets crispy. That's called bokkeumbap, and it's the best part. Masitge deuseyo!
