Full transcript

Annyeong, yeoreobun! Yul here, in Hannam-dong, Yongsan. On Itaewon-ro stands the home of THEBLACKLABEL, the label behind ROSÉ's solo career, Jeon Somi, MEOVV and ALLDAY PROJECT. And its captain is a producer called Teddy.

Teddy Park was born in Seoul and grew up in the United States. In 1998, he debuted in the hip-hop group 1TYM, then became a star producer at YG Entertainment, making hits like 2NE1's I Am the Best and BLACKPINK's DDU-DU DDU-DU. In 2016, THEBLACKLABEL launched as a label under YG, and for years it worked out of YG's old building in Hapjeong.

Plot twist! In 2024, the label moved into its own office here in Hannam-dong. That same year, ROSÉ, whose BLACKPINK songs Teddy had produced, signed with the label for her solo work, and the girl group MEOVV debuted. In 2025 came ALLDAY PROJECT, a co-ed group.

And the biggest twist? The label's producers worked on songs for the animated film KPop Demon Hunters, including Golden. In March 2026, Golden won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Daebak! Today the label even manages actors like Park Bo-gum, and the football star Lee Kang-in.

Yul's tip! Take Line 6 to Itaewon Station and walk east along Itaewon-ro. Hannam-dong is full of cafes and galleries, so make a day of it. Just remember: photos from outside only, no waiting at the door, no following artists, and be kind to the staff.

Next, let's discover another corner of Seoul with a story to tell. Kaja!
